The end! Tom's bike ride across Ohio

Tom finished his ride on Saturday with all the other guys! The riders rode up to the church together and lots of family and friends were there with cheers, whistles, and bells to welcome them all home. There were hugs and congratulations for everyone that made the trip! I'm so glad I could be there with the others to welcome them all home.

Tom was able to ride every mile but early Saturday he wasn't so sure it was going to happen. He woke in pain and the ride, even the seemingly short ride of 45 miles, seemed too much. He prayed, others prayed, and he was able to get on the bike. A few miles from the church he wasn't so sure he was going to be able to finish but he did it. He came in with a huge smile on his face which was good to see! He has said several times in the last couple of days that he can't believe he was able to make it all the way. It was a huge feeling of accomplishment for him! He knows that it was only because so many were praying and encouraging him that he made it!

The ride was a great week of fellowship for Tom and the others. He met some new guys, had great conversations on the long rides, and was able to share each evening with everyone. Something like this ride really bonds people together so the fellowship was rich.

Saturday evening Tom preached at the first of four services at Christ Community Chapel in Hudson, OH. He spoke on Micah 6:8. "The Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." His main theme was mercy and he shared stories of times he had seen mercy given or received. It was a great way to finish off a really great week.

The Lord has been so gracious to allow Tom to set out a goal like this and then to accomplish it. And you have been right there for every mile! How can we really thank you?! We love you!

Dear Tom,

I am so proud I met you during your visit in Palm Desert in the spring. We were able to talk about things, and I enjoyed your sermon.
This is such a wonderful accomplishment. I feel that God was watching over you. He gave you strength when you thought that you won't be able to finish this ride.

God bless you and your family!

I had the privilege of having lunch with Tony G. yesterday. Also fresh off the ride, he shared many stories from the trip, stories both about the trip and stories of the Philippines you shared on the trip. We laughed and celebrated all over again. The story about Sammy the electrician and the new pastor - hilarious, joyful, and praiseworthy. So great that you all made it. Amazing that Kris J. finished the ride with a broken hand and arm. Wow!
